Profile of the Honourable Minister for Fisheries
Commander Semi Tuleca Koroilavesau
The Hon. Koroilavesau served 18years in the Fiji Navy and retired as a Naval Commander. He has spent 25 years with Captain Cook Cruises in the Tourism Industry. The Hon. Minister is a Member of Parliament and he was initially the Government Chief Whip for one year before joining Cabinet.He held the portfolio of Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations prior to becoming Minister for Fisheries in September 2016.
He was President of the Naval Association and Commander of the Naval Reserve from 1999. He was the Vice Chairman of the Maritime Advisory Board in 2000 and a member of the Australian Institute of Navigation. In August 2001 he was appointed a Consultant at New Zealand’s Maritime School, Manukau Tech. He was appointed Managing Director Captain Cook Cruises, Fiji Islands in November 2005 and Executive Chairman of Captain Cook Cruises in 2013.
He was Board member for Fiji Hotel and Tourism Association and also co-Vice President from 2006–2014. Board Chairman of FPCL from 2007 – 2009. He was President of Fiji Ship-owners Association in 2012 – 2014.
He had been recently appointed as a Board Member of the iTaukei Affairs Board [TAB] in November 2017 for 3 years.
He has been with a number of boards relating to Maritime and since 1990 he has been involved on a number of boards and committees at village district, provincial, divisional and national level.
